CE AS PRODUCER

Find out which requirements for the CE marking result from the gas appliance regulation. The regulation lays down basic rules for products operated with gaseous fuels to ensure safety. In addition to conformity assessment according to the Gas Appliance Regulation, compliance with the Low Voltage Directive and EMC Directive often has to be checked.

The experts at easyCE will be happy to assist you in placing your product on the market in the EEA and in assessing special cases. We support you with CE, UKCA and other markings.

FAQ

What are the objectives of Regulation (EU) 2016/426?

The Gas Appliances Regulation (GAR) lays down basic rules for equipment and fittings operated with gaseous fuels to ensure the safety of persons, pets or goods to be sold on the EU internal market. The regulation is the revised version of Predecessor Directive 2009/142/EC

What is the main content of Regulation (EU) 2016/426?

1. The essential requirements laid down in the Regulation apply to household and non-household appliances as well as to fittings intended for installation in these appliances. The valves are safety, control or regulating devices and subassemblies. The Regulation also applies to all new or used equipment manufactured in the EU or imported from third countries.

What is presented in the annexes of the GAR and why are they important?

The annexes to the GAR contain important information on compliance with the regulation.

Which products does the regulation apply to?

The scope of the GAR is limited to equipment that burns gaseous fuels and is used for the following purposes

What are the different examples of products covered by the GAR?

  • Fireplaces & stoves
  • Heaters (radiant heaters, ceiling heaters, patio heaters, table heaters)

How does Regulation (EU) 2016/426 differ from its predecessor Directive 2009/142/EC?

  • The validity of all documents under the old regulation (GAD 2009/142/EC) ended with the enforcement of the GAR regulation on 21.04.2018.
  • The maximum operating temperature of 105°C was removed in the GAR regulation.

How and when is compliance with EN standards required?

Harmonized standards establish a presumption of conformity with the essential requirements of the Regulation, the reference numbers of which have been published in the Official Journal of the EU. The application of harmonized standards is voluntary.

What leads to CE marking?

"The general principles for the CE marking and its relationship to other markings are set out in Regulation (EC) No. 765/2008. "The rules for affixing the CE marking to equipment should be laid down in this Regulation", the Regulation states.

What are the main elements of the CE marking procedure for equipment burning gaseous fuels?

"Here are the key elements to consider when complying with CE marking for equipment burning gaseous fuels.

How do you measure and analyze the risk of gas appliances?

The GAR (Gas Appliances Regulation) outlines precise measures for assessing and managing risks associated with gas appliances. Manufacturers must aim to eliminate planning and construction-related risks whenever possible and implement necessary precautions for unavoidable risks.

CE marking and declaration of conformity of a tunnel boring machine for copper mining in Australia

CE marking and conformity assessment of all life phases of a copper mining tunnel boring machine in Australia

easyCE supports the entire conformity assessment process including risk assessment up to the declaration of conformity ready for signature for all phases of the life cycle of a tunnelling machine for copper mining in Australia. The completely new concept of using multi-arm cutting heads required special attention during the process. In addition to the conventional regulations, special safety and technical requirements that apply in Australia were also taken into account.

CE marking and declaration of conformity for laser marking machine

CE labelling of switch cabinets

easyCE supports the entire conformity assessment process, including risk assessment, right through to the declaration of conformity for control cabinets ready for signature. In particular, the requirements from the Machinery, EMC and Low Voltage Directives with regard to DIN EN 60204-1: 2019-06 and DIN EN IEC 61439-1: 2021-10 had to be observed. A checklist was also drawn up for the selection of components that must fulfil special requirements (supplier selection).

CE marking and declaration of conformity of conveyor machines for component separation of small parts and feeding to further processing steps.

CE marking and declaration of conformity of a mobile satellite communication system

easyCE supports the entire conformity assessment procedure, including risk assessment in accordance with the EMC Directive, right up to the ready-to-sign declaration of conformity for a satellite communication system. The system ensures the redundant forwarding of TCP/IP data in order to send or receive it via two or more satellite antennas. The system is used wherever a mobile communication system needs to be set up quickly over long distances.

CE marking and declaration of conformity for laser marking machine

CE marking and declaration of conformity for a 2D laser cutting system

easyCE supports the entire conformity assessment procedure for a 2D laser cutting system with automatic pallet changer. The entire safety concept, including the 2-beam light barrier, was coordinated for the laser cutting system, the performance level was determined, a product analysis was created and a risk assessment was carried out in accordance with EN ISO 12100. Special requirements result for the mechanical components of the traverse for the laser cutting head, but especially for the kinematics of the pallet changer and laser cutting head. The cutting process (laser class 4) inside the cabin is safely shielded from the operator by laser protection screens, additional safety devices and the complete enclosure: laser class 1 outside the machine.

Takes into account among others: 2006/42/EC, 2014/30/EU, DIN EN 60825-1 etc.
